Professional Experience

 

Jake’s practice is to empower organizations working for equitable, long-run economic growth. He serves as general counsel to dozens of entities, including community-based nonprofits, early-stage startups, and established national brands. He is expert in applying benefit corporation and circular economy structures, regularly advising companies committed to social and environmental missions.

 

As a strategic partner to organizational leadership, Jake helps facilitate business growth, protect against operational risks, and shape efficient legal structures across a range of industries.

 

He couples deep diligence and technical ability with empathy for the incentives and relationships on each side of every transaction. Jake’s work supports the entire Allen & Kimbell team, focusing especially on real estate transactions and related businesses.

 

Jake in the Community

 

Away from the law, Jake is with plants. He manages a native garden habitat at his home in Ojai, using principles of permaculture and regenerative agriculture to cultivate citrus and other crops and botanicals. He is an avid home chef, outdoorsman, and athlete. In the community, he serves as a member of the board of directors of the Santa Barbara Barristers Association.
