James Sweeney's practice focuses on civil litigation including real property, trust and estate, and business disputes.
Raised in southeast Idaho, James returned to his native San Diego to attend Point Loma Nazarene University. Following the award Magna Cum Laude of his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from PLNU 1996, James enrolled at the UCLA School of Law. He completed law school at UCLA and joined the bar in 1999 having worked as an editor of the Law Review, having served as a judicial extern on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and having earned admission to the Order of the Coif honor society.
James is also a member of Santa Barbara’s William L. Gordon Chapter of the American Inns of Court, an institution dedicated to advancing professionalism in the practice of law and developing a positive working relationship among local attorneys and judges. Between court appearances James enjoys live music, golf and snowboarding. He also enjoys hiking and backpacking throughout the Central Coast, and is a member of the Montecito Trails Foundation. . |
